Counselor response

We are glad you have discovered our website and are reaching out this evening.  We know that many people experience increased depression during the holiday season.   That is actually very good insight on your part.  We are not discounting your feelings, we are simply letting you know that many share this change of mood during this time of year.   It may be the winter itself depending on where you live.  The colder weather, and shorter days with less sunshine can have an impact on our moods.   For some, there may be sad memories associated with this time of year, and the holidays tend to trigger thoughts of the past.

It is important to take care of yourself physically during these days.  Get plenty of sleep, exercise, and a healthy diet.   Allocate time to do things you enjoy doing, as well as keeping up on the things you need to do.  It is important to be able to visit with others about how you are feeling.  Try to let your parents know how you are feeling.  If it becomes worse,  you may want to visit with your doctor.

We want you to know we are here for you.  You can call us anytime.  Talking about your feelings can help.  Our counselors are great listeners and would be happy to help.

Sincerely,

Larry – Counselor
