My Brother Controlled My Life

We are glad you have discovered our website and are reaching out tonight.  We understand the conflicting feelings you conveyed in your emails concerning your brother.  It sounds like there has been some very intense things going on with him and your family.  It also sounds like your relationship with him was very intense as well, and yes, you still love him.  It is ok to have different types of feelings in situations like this.  You are doing a great job recognizing them.  You mentioned in your email that your brother was suicidal and taking drugs,  and also hit your dad.  Sometimes, it is the best for everyone to have some time apart to let things settle down, allowing everyone time to process what is going on.  While you are missing your brother, love him, and are concerned for him, try to understand this time away and treatment could be healing for him.  While he is away, and anytime, we want you to know we are here for you.  We suggest reviewing the articles under the Tips section on the website, including “99 coping skills”.   The Tips link is at the top of the homepage.
