Daily Anxiety Attacks

Question

I have anxiety attacks daily, if I get chest pain, arm pain etc. I automatically start freaking out thinking I'm having a heart attack. I'm currently having one (panic attack). It's debilitating. I can't enjoy life, I'm always worried. I'm just ready for this to be over, I'm miserable all the time.

Counselor response

It sounds like you are frequently suffering from intense symptoms. If you are feeling like you are having a heart attack that is probably very overwhelming for you. We do want to recommend a visit with a Doctor to discuss possible treatment for your anxiety in order to calm the symptoms and to feel better. Also, going to therapy could be a good way to get professional support.

Talking about your anxiety or journaling out your feelings can be a good way to help find a release when things are intense. We talk to many young adults who have symptoms similar to the ones you described. We have ideas to help you and can suport you through this.

Anxiety can become more manageable by doing coping skills that help to relax your mind and body. Start with trying some breathing techniques. Take slow deep breaths and holding each in breath for a few seconds and then releasing that breath slowly and repeating until you start to feel a release of the anxiety. Concentrating on your breathing has an effect of slowing down your body and mind to help to relax. Just Breathe

Here are a few other ways to help with anxiety that are from our website.

You can call us whenever you are feeling anxious. We are here to help.

We hope you will contact us whenever you need support,
